DUDU FISHER - YANKELE

Yankele is a powerful music video that tells the true story of Yankele Bick, a young boy murdered in Auschwitz. Through music and image, the film honors one stolen childhood while standing as a testament to the millions of lives lost during the Holocaust.

The song is performed by Dudu Fisher, acclaimed Broadway star and renowned cantor, whose deeply personal performance is shaped by his experience as a second-generation Holocaust survivor.

Appearing in the video is Avigdor Neumann, an Auschwitz survivor who plays himself. Neumann survived three concentration camps and two death marches, later fighting in four wars with the IDF, where he was wounded during the Six Day War. His presence lends the project an unfiltered authenticity rooted in lived history.

The song was written and composed by Cecelia Margules, an artist and prolific portfolio composer whose work includes dozens of compositions dedicated to Holocaust education, as well as music for feature length films and music videos. Margules is herself a second generation Holocaust survivor, and Yankele is dedicated to her uncle, Yankele Bick, her mother’s brother, who was murdered in Auschwitz.

More than a music video, Yankele is a living act of remembrance, a reminder that memory is not only history, but a moral responsibility carried forward through art, especially at times like this
